A noteworthy statement written by apostle Paul gives us a clearer picture of what wholesome thoughts are. In the fourth chapter of Philippians verse eight, he gives us what we must make the center of our thought life.
They include 'whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.'
As Joyce meyer noted 'you cannot have a positive life and a negative mind.'
Each time you give in to unwholesome thoughts like anger, hate, malice, anxiety, envy, disappointment, jealousy, unforgiveness and all of such thoughts, it demoralizes your body and you fling the door open to diseases.
No wonder King Solomon warns us to guard our heart (or mind) with all diligence for it is the fountain or the wellspring of our life. And if the fountain be dirty, it then pours into every aspect of our lives.
No matter how well you eat healthy food, if you feed your mind always with the wrong thoughts, then it is just like a slow poison that will eventually crumble your health.
Your thoughts has a direct influence on your general well being and happy thoughts would no doubt give birth to happy living.
