"Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?" - Matthew 6:27
Despite knowing that worrying does no good but aims to truncate our lives, we still engage in it.
Why?
The answer is not far-fetched. It is because to worry feels convenient. It gives us the opportunity to mourn over our distress, complain about it and murmur. Yet as the greatest teacher pointed out, it is up to no good.
In these days of economic crisis, we worry about the high price of commodities, the unemployed graduate laments about his lack of job, even those already employed worry about their inconsistent payments, while some others worry about their meager salary that is becoming increasingly inadequate to meet their needs.
We worry about our food, our clothing, our shelter, our life, our future.
Is there anything we don't worry about?
Yet it does not in anyway solve the immediate problems we are confronted with.
It rather grew worse and we may end up losing our lives in the process as it threatens our well-being.
This is a miserable way to live.
Jesus advises us to live one day at a time. He admonishes us to choose to be optimistic and trust in God's divine providence to meet all our needs as He is sure to do every time without fail.
