This is such an astounding statement. To be in Christ is not an option but a necessity. Life has no meaning and no reference point without our roots in Christ. Argue as we may, this is the truth that keeps staring at our faces.
The message bible says it more clearly, "everything got started in him and finds its purpose in him."
You may need to pause for a while and let this thought really sink in.
Your life got its start in Him and there is no way you would ever make any sense out of it without Him. He is the one that helps you to understand your very existence.
When Christ finds a lost man or woman, He gives meaning to their lives. Suddenly all the broken pieces of their lives starts to fix together and just like a fish taken back to water, they suddenly come alive.
Christ holds our very existence and with him in the picture we can begin to comprehend our reason for living.
What does the scripture say,
"For none of us lives for ourselves alone, and none of us dies for ourselves alone. If we live, we live for the Lord; and if we die, we die for the Lord. So, whether we live or die, we belong to the Lord. For this very reason, Christ died and returned to life so that he might be the Lord of both the dead and the living."
Romans 14:7-9 NIV
He is our Lord and our owner and we must show willingness to surrender our lives totally to Him and just as Hudson Taylor says “Christ is either Lord of all, or is not Lord at all”.
