Your Mind; The Ultimate Success Ingredient

“We see things the way our minds have instructed our eyes to see…” Strive Masiyiwa

Let's go on a journey together....

Imagine for a minute, that you are passing through an uncultivated land, how does it looks like? You see grasses growing here and their, bushes and even some dangerous reptiles that might be lurking inside those bushes, simply stated its a land not regulated for a specific use.

How about if you were to imagine that you are passing through a cultivated land, what would you see?

A totally different sight!
You see a land that is well taken care of, because it is directed to a specific purpose, maybe to grow maize, yam or rice depending on the needs of the farmer.

What do we make out of this?

Your mind can be compared to a land, it can either be cultivated or uncultivated. Just like a farmer cultivates his land because he wants to derive value from it, so also if success is your goal, your mind is your ultimate success ingredient, you must make the conscious effort to cultivate it.

What does it mean to cultivate?

It means to prepare and use (soil) for growing plants.

Let's  substitute soil for your mind and the plants for the results you desire. To cultivate then means, to prepare your mind to yield the results that you desire. Wow, that's deep!

Note that the kind of crops that the farmer desires determines the kind of preparation that would be made on his land. Hence, how he cultivates the land for maize crops is different for yam.

Likewise, if you desire quality results, then you must make quality preparation...

How are you cultivating your mind?

As an uncultivated land is irrelevant, likewise is an uncultivated mind. You make a conscious effort to study, to prepare along the direction of your dreams, you can't live life anyhow. Life is serious business!

As Strive Masiyiwa said, our mind shapes our perception to life, how we see things. Someone sees an opportunity and goes for it, another person calls that same opportunity a problem. The difference between the rich and the poor is their mindset and not their bank accounts.

The place to begin to experience transformation in your life is to start the cultivation of your mind. If your goal is to become financially free, then sow seeds of financial intelligence....learn from those that have excelled in that area and do what they did.....remember, 'success leaves tracks'. If your dream is to excel in the area of sports, maybe a footballer, an athlete....whichever one you desire, then make research on what the stars in those areas did and do the same.

Don't sit down and complain about how bad things are. When you do that, you are putting the wrong seeds in your land, and what will happen?, you will get plenty of the wrong things in your life.

Cultivate! Cultivate!! Cultivate!!!

You are the designer of your destiny! A land left on its own, produces nothing, likewise a mind left uncultivated yields no tangible result.

Someone asks,  "how then will I cultivate my mind?"

That's a simple question...

Read!! Invest in books! Books are full of great treasures, it contains the secrets of great men and women, their insights will help you to reach your destination faster.

Secondly, cut off wrong associations., people who are going nowhere likes to take people along with them. Be among the right company, let your friends challenge you and bring out the best in you. Don't move with those who have no vision for their lives. This point is so critical that we would be talking more about it indepthly in my subsequent posts.

Thirdly, guard what you listen to, invest in tapes or CDs that will encourage you and move you toward your dream. Guard what you hear. What you hear enters your mind, be on guard, don't just allow anything to enter your mind! Be a good farmer.

Lastly, have a positive mental attitude, have a positive outlook to life, expect good things, even when things sometimes go wrong, as they would, don't back down. As Napoleon hill stated "Every adversityevery failure, every heartache carries with it the seed of an equal or greater benefit."

As you put all the above keys to work, you will begin to attract to yourself everything you need to fulfil all your dreams.

Why am I so sure of this?

Every farmer that cultivates his land and sows the right seeds(based on his needs) expects effortlessly an harvest. His duty is to cultivate, while nature rewards His labor with a bountiful harvest.

Let me end with a quote I love from the book of proverbs...

"Seest thou a man diligent in his business? he shall stand before kings; he shall not stand before mean men." (Proverbs 22:29)
